Today is September 11, 2008, exactly 7 years after the attack on the twin towers. It crazy to think of how long this war has been going on. I think back to the day it happened, i was in sixth grade taking the istep test. I didnt even understand what was going on; when my teacher told us what had just happend i didnt really grasp the fact that there was a group of people that wanted to attack and kill americans. It didnt really seem like a big deal, even as i watched the news in all my classes-i still didnt really understand how much the attack was going to affect my life.
Soon after 9/11 my brother decided to join the army, and after all his training he had to go over to afghanistan for almost a year. It was a hard time for our family because the war was new and no one really knew what was going on overseas and that scared us. Then just a few years ago i became really close with one of my friends who was in the marines and also going to have to go overseas. This really hit me hard because i was in highschool so i was old enough to understand the war and understand all the dangers of going overseas to fight. I hope this war ends soon so that no one else has to have friends or family members go overseas with the chance of losing their life. God Bless Our Troops.
